Cross Our Hearts And Hope To Live - 80%

Atlanta, home of the Brave(s), as well as long defunct, umlaut defined Völtage and now, the Silicon Peach's latest vixenized quintet, Crossed Hearts, which has just released its first single and EP cassette under Mythic Ironworks comprised of two kick-ass tracks fans of fellow American sluggers such as A Sound Of Thunder, Sanhedrin, Savage Master and Tower will dig, as surely as Cupid slings his arrow of love on Valentine's Day.

The longer "White Lies" opens this up to tune of dirtily rollicking, heavy-on-the-skins, good old fashioned riffing, whilst singer Carlee Jackson lives up to her moniker-less, already metal in essence name a with huskily concise, upper mid-range delivery highly developed since her stint in Chicago's still active doom rocker a la Death Penalty, Relentless. As my fellow retired Pennsylvanian colleague noted in his review of their wickedly titled 2013 debut, Souls Of Charon, her exuberant and inflammatory voice brings to mind Janis somewhat, yet, here, benefits from elevated flair and coolly inflected hooks, even coming across a little as Shadowland's Tanya Finder on 'Speedin' For Your Love".

Alongside Belgium's recently womanized Scavenger, this Georgian auspice oozes major glad tidings, with the slick dual guitars proffering explosively finger tapped pyros to compliment an attacking rhythm section, which, though derivative, packs enough energy to go around, making me mildly despondent we're presently limited to said low output.

Hopefully, a full-length bonanza is already in the heart works.
