Corpse ov Christ - Supreme God's Revolt...

Southern Norsecore - 55%

Zodijackyl, June 7th, 2017

This Brazilian horde's debut demo has a lot of blast beats - you know where this is going.

There are heavy influences from Norse bands like Dark Funeral and Marduk - lots of blast beats, double bass, and tremolo picking. It is well performed and recorded - no issues with that - and they manage to bring the focus of this demo beyond the backbone of their upbeat style. There is a respectable amount of variation in the drumming - better than typical Norsecore, but it's still just the rhythm section. The music is led by typical black metal vocals, and tremolo guitar melodies. The guitars mix up shorter, more dissonant parts with some longer melodies - nothing spectacular. It builds an enjoyable atmosphere - the type of thing you would hear in 2003 and think was awesome for a few weeks before forgetting about it. While it is well performed and good at any particular moment, overall it isn't very memorable.

The upside of this demo is that it is well performed and recorded. The downside is that there's nothing particularly special nor memorable about it.
