So you like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, old-Helloween and King Diamond? Then go get this one and you won’t be sorry! At last Holland succeeded to deliver an astonishing and promising heavy/speed metal band.
The album kicks in with Dark Angel, a melodic fast song. Wido hits some high notes on this one. Both guitar players play some excellent riffs, the drums are solid and firm and former bass player Pol Samaer shows us bass lines Steve Harris could have played on Killers. A good start. 8,5/10
The second song A Killers Confession is my absolute favorite of the album. It starts slow and dark and gets heavy after two verses. Although it is not as fast as Dark Angel, it still kicks some ass! Lyrically it speaks about some crazy killer, but the lyrics are funny and amusing in a good way. Both the solos are very good and sound and again the rhythm section is absolutely devastating. 9/10
Caught In An Unconscious Tale has some strange lyrics (I guess they are about a dream or something that way) but I didn’t got bored with them. The riffs and solos are some of the best I heard in a long time and again Wido’s voice rules. 9/10
Conquer Them All is some kind of a metal-anthem and although I love to sing these kind of songs along with hundreds of others at a concert, I can understand why some people simply don’t like them. If you don’t like the lyrics, but only to the music, you will hear some thrashy riffs that sound like early Metallica and Iced Earth. You should bang your head on this one. Although the song is not as good as the other ones, it’s still a solid piece of heavy metal. 8/10.
So what do we have? Some Dutch guys who really master their instruments and have come to ‘Conquer you all!’ The EP hasn’t got an “A night at the opera” or “The glorious burden” production, but it sounds rough in a good way, like the early eighties albums like “Iron Maiden” and “British Steel” have. Just buy it, people, that’s all I have to say.
