Valiantly redeeming itself following a slipshod, however maniacally exuberant, four cut EP released in April is Sao Po's Chromeskull, with a much tighter, no-less wound, two-timing single festively titled Screams In The Night (surely, if it knows what's good for 'em, England's Night Screamer approves).
Still keeping up its road warrior, pedal to the metal, up, up and away (fast) tempo'd pace intermingled with loud, floor banging drums and arcane linguistics to boot, "Gritos Na Noite" proudly flash bangs, head first, through the finish line with a multitude of original battery implements, from said crashing, over-the-top skins to a spryly expunged, old-school blackened thrash solo demarcating the 02:28 to 03:23 reel (buddy's snazzy finger-tapping is a vastly welcome improvement, no-how) with, as sick bonus, a rampantly cramping bass lead and suave return to ill-bred form before...ah, before the slightly briefer "Living Fast, Die Young" side-steps its devilish way in with a noggin' topping, thwack-ing drum intro and bluntly shuffling guitar riff tied true n' through to a chest-rattling bass line - in fact, the domineering rhythm section entails a huge part of Chromeskull's appeal.
With this in mind, we can only hope said Dead Shall Rise(s) EP was a merrily gambolling fluke i.e. nod & wink towards fraternal heavy metal experimentation gone off the rails in search of identity. Hence, if former, somewhat iffy recording failed to convince, Screams In The Night does fine job of propping us up for the long haul. In other words, Chromeskull is welcome to bash my krome dome with presently sought after full-length debut.
