The Hairless Fat Carnage Deed

I’ve never received a record from Algeria before, and I don’t think I’ve even heard of a band from Algeria, but it’s cool to see and hear that our north African brothers are joining up for the gore war.

While including covers of Mortician and Avulsed, it’s easily depicted as their main influences. But this is more to the school of goregrind, and I dare say I even sense an Impetigo vibe. Thrashing gored death metal grinding with undecipherable grunts and growls. Lyrics are included for five of the tunes, but there’s no chance in hell to hear a word even with the lyrics right in front of you. But The hairless fat carnage deed, the debut album by Carnavage, is not just straight up goregrinding. No, they’ll surprise you on a couple of occasions with sort of a Birdflesh-like, humoristic approach towards grinding.

I like this MCD ‘cause it keeps my attention on high throughout the album, due to the weirder influences every now and then. A downer is that it doesn’t pack the most effective punch I’ve experienced with the genre, but it’s definitely a nice debut that shows some potential for the future.
