Blodulv / Demiurg / Monomania - Total Human Demise

Demise In Its Purest Form - 100%

MetalTerror13, February 10th, 2005

This is it. The best split ever(?) to came out from the underground. Here we have black metal in tree different shapes. First theres the polish horde Demiurg that starts of with four strong tracks plus one intro. This is one of the absolut first releases I bought from Total Holocaust Records and it was a chance because i didnt know what i was gonna get. The form of black metal Demiurg performes (with two members from Moontower) is, according to me, very similair to the black metal that Nocturnal Mortum performes on their later releases eccept its more primitive in its performance. Its very raw riffs that are mixed with folk elements (performed on syntheizers) that gives this recording a very nice atmosfair of darkness and despair. The vocals are also very raw and supports the atmosfair very good. The only thing thats a minus is the drums that probably is a drummachine. Its very fast and the sound is okay but there is no variation.Three of the songs are performed on english and one in polish witch is very cool and interesting. The best songs are "Secrets Of Pentagram" and "Human Total Demise" This stuff is something I stronglly recommend to all fans of black/folk metal.

The next contribution on this splittape is from the allmighty Blodulv from the depts of Sweden. Blodulvs black metal is probably the most "true" in its true sense of the word. The guitarsound is extremly raw but never to raw so to speak. It doesnt bring the other instruments in a shade. The drumms is, probably, a drumm machine. The performence is very straight played and very slow but never the less ok. The most outstanding thing in the production, witch is very cold, is the way the vocals are performed. The best way to describe it is to compair it to Gorgoroth. There it is. Another strong relase from Blodulv witch I have followed from their debut "Kristkrossare". Stronglly recommended. Not for fans of trendy production ore clean performance.

The last band on the tape is the danish band Monomania. Monomania performes very straight black metal if you ask me. I dont really have anything to commpair with eccept that the production is ok and the songs to. The only thing I can hear is that the band doesnt stand out as the two other. They are more anonymous in their way of playing if your asking me. Its not bad bud its not specially good either if you now what I mean. All the lyrics is performed in danish and thats cool. I like when your national herritage shines trough and that gives the music a whole new dimension. like the case with Demiurg. You cant miss the slavic influences. In Monomanias case its just the lyrics that shines trough. This shows to me that the danish scene is on the way forward. Look out for Monomania! Its stuff like this that makes me give full point to this split. A very good "first buy"
