Blessed in Sin - Odes Obscures

Excellent release! - 95%

dominion, April 29th, 2004

"Odes Obscures" is French band Blessed In Sin´s third demo-tape, being recorded during 1994 and 1995 and released in 1996. The cassette contains 6 tracks of both raw, yet symphonic Black Metal at its best, and highly epic and passionate hymns sometimes almost having the intensity of dark classical music. Fetishists of "clinical life-sound" should stay away from this release due to the minimalistic rehearsal-like sound-production, but considering my own personal taste I have no other choice than to call „Odes Obscures“ a cassette full of majestic grimness that expresses the purity of darkness in its most obscure form, it is a truly magnificent release.
