Blazing Eternity - Der hviler en nat under sorte vinterbøge

Hidden potential - 65%

oneyoudontknow, March 24th, 2007

Blazing eternity from Denmark offer on this tape tracks that had later been used on their debut full-length CD Times and Unknown waters. The main difference between those two releases is the lack of production on the earlier one. A lack of balancing is the most obvious difference existing and referring to the later version of the songs only to some extend; it is somehow interesting to see the track at an early stage of progress. To what extend a good production helps to create a better atmosphere, make the sounds more listenable and transparent to the listener, can be heard by comparing this demo and the debut of Blazing eternity. It can be described this way: the sound is like hearing the debut-versions of the songs from far away or behind a think curtain. This muffled sound exists the whole time and reduces the ability of the instruments to develop their full potential and so they now and then keep stuck in the wall of noise. Do not understand me wrong, the songs itself are of an acceptable quality and despite the production listenable. It is the comparison to the debut version which makes the quality of the tape to some extend questionable.

This release is for fans and for people who want to have everything interesting, but to the most this release would give nothing, mainly because the overall quality is just mediocre. So I rather suggest getting their debut, in order to see what good music this band is capable of playing.
