Having never heard a single note by Black Tribe, I was quite surprised at what I heard. The best way to describe it is very raw, and having a dark aura about it.
As far as what’s on this demo, we have 5 songs: "Suffering", "From the Depth of Hell", "Intellectual Misogynism", "Drowning in Melancholy", and "Bite It, You Scum".
“Suffering” is an ambient track that will put thoughts of darkened forests in the forefront of you psyche.
Following that is “From the Depth of Hell”, a thrashy black metal song, which is pretty darn good.
“Intellectual Misogynism” follows “From the Depth of Hell”, and it starts off with a lone siren and a bass thundering in the background before exploding into a thrashy black metal song.
Next is “Drowning in Melancholy”, which starts off with an orchestra like beginning before morphing into a rhythmic acoustic guitar, though it almost sounds tubular at points, which is a very nice effect. Then it explodes into a rage before settling back on that acoustic guitar, once again it explodes with an intriguing backing orchestra, and once again we hear the acoustic guitar, before the whole thing dies in silence.
Wrapping it up is the GG Allin cover in “Bite It, You Scum” which for the most part is a traditional verse-chorus-verse song, the only one to be found on this album. It possesses a much more punky, upbeat sound than any of the other songs.
Overall this is a solid little demo, nothing spectacular, and absolutely nothing awful, just a collection of solid songs. From this demo alone I wish to hear more!
