Somewhat bare and yet quite listenable - 80%

PowerMetalGlory, March 14th, 2003

I discovered this album after listening to a track called Frozen Wastes. It struck me as somewhat reminiscent of Skyclad but with old school howls and doomy guitars with an overall desolate atmosphere. Most songs on the album are slow and thick but still quite accessible for someone that isn’t used to the usual atmosphere delivered by doom albums. Frozen Wastes and a couple of other songs feature the use of a flute, which provides a welcome contrast to the harsh vocals and carries the songs above the boundaries scribbled by the Antichrist. The sound quality is quite good and I don’t expect many people to be bothered with it. Looking for something to play on a cold autumn night? Bethzaida’s Nine Worlds should do the trick.
