Against Ourselves

This is my first review, so if there are any grammar mistakes (i'm indonesian) or whatever i'm sorry.

I was in the middle of listening to "Christ Deformed" by The Black Dahlia Murder when a friend of mine gave his ipod with the song "Aku adalah Tuhan" by Beside. And i was like "Shit! who would've thought that an indonesian band could create such a good melodic death/metalcore song?". So, as soon as i got home i turned on my PC and downloaded the album (yeah, i'm a guy who likes to download illegal copies of albums on the internet).

The album begins with a depressing yet satisfying acoustic instrumental, followed by the song "The End of Pain" it starts with a typical metalcore opening, the vocals kick ass, the guitars...well, not too bad. The songs "The Holly Man" and "Sisi Kelam" leaves the same impression. Only in the tracks "7 Deadly Sins" and "Aku adalah Tuhan" something started to feel different regarding their mucisianship. 7 Deadly Sins has a simple rhythm structure but it felt somehow catchy to me. Aku adalah Tuhan has by far the most catchy guitar solo part. The rest of the album are well, fucking sick, especially the song "Sincerity", which is i think the most metalcore - oriented song in the album, with all the breakdowns and stuff.

Overall, this album is one of the greatest metal albums i've ever experienced, for The Black Dahlia Murder, Through the Eyes of the Dead, and melodic death metal fans. get this one.
