Autumnal Winds - Venerari Sacra Mysteria

Venerari Sacra Mysteria - 100%

Sejant, August 1st, 2004

This promotional album is one of the best-recorded demos I’ve heard in a while. You can make out everything that is going on. The guitar sounds are very clean. And even more importantly the drums are not over powering. You can hear them but they are at about the perfect level. This demo mixes heavy guitar sounds with very melodic guitars. There is also a true bass line, not one that just follows the guitars the whole time. Which so many bands do these days. The drums are not boring they are constantly changing. The vocals are very heavy but then there are clean ones too. For example on track 3 there is a small section with clean vocals. The most unique thing about this album though is the last track. Its all dulcimer and female clean vocals, half way through the dulcimer track is played in reverse until the very end where it changes to a short guitar part that just cuts off where u least expect. He says it makes people say WTF?. This man Tanner Anderson is a genius. He rivals Chuck Schuldiner in my opinion, the only difference being the genre and sound.
