I came across this band while trying to see if melodic black metal was a thing (I already knew melodeath was a thing). And this band was the first to come up, their 2013 album 'Voices From The Eternal Night' came up, and I started to listen to the record and I was impressed. Now fast forward 5 years later and I started to notice that Atra Vetosus were working on a new album. So I waited until this record came out and once it did, I was shocked.
Many people can experience shock from music albums in a good way or in a bad way. I experienced this shock in the good way, being very amazed and impressed beyond belief. When I mention their 2013 record, I can say that it sounds a lot like it but at the same time this record also has a different sound, a different but very beautiful sound to it.
All of the tracks on this album are beautifully created and the album itself has proved itself to be worthy of the black metal gods themselves. I like how this shows that awesome black metal can be made without all of the excess and sometimes unnecessary satanic themes and imagery within the music since this album doesn't contain satanic lyricism. It focuses more upon pain, nature, and abandonment. And when you hear the screams and shrieks, you can feel like the singer is really in pain and letting his emotions go, which is a very good thing that fuels the fire this album contains. I often get caught off guard from the screams and I get scared in a good way.
In short, this album is possibly one of the best made albums for 2018, one of the best black metal albums for a really long time, and that it can possibly compete with the other well known black metal albums made buy already known black metal bands. You'll get an entirely different feeling when you're listening to this record while taking a walk at night, like I recently did.
I give this album a 9.5/10, very well done album from a relatively new band in the black metal scene. And keep in mind that this is their second album. I hope their next album is as powerful as this one has.
