Atomizer's decent brand of blackened thrash has struck a rather Satanic chord with me. Not so much for the technical brilliance, the advanced songwriting, or the inspired and though-provoking lyrics, because those things don't exist here. No, I like this album for one reason - it makes my head bang, fucking hard. Atomizer is the sort of band one can imagine getting horribly drunk and attempting to play their songs at 3 times the speed, or some other drunken shenanigans. I suppose I had better try and explain myself, and actually figure out WHY I like this........
The riffs are kickass, memorable affairs - try forgetting the main riff in 'Upon The Dying Priest I Spat' in a hurry - and the drums, while sometimes sounding a bit rough around the edges, complement things perfectly. Vocally we are abused with a quite unique sounding shriek (to my ears), which again is well-suited to the rest of the music. There are a couple of samples, which I find highly entertaining.....
Fuck it. To be honest, I like this "just because". This is good-quality black/thrash metal which will please a lot of metalheads, if not pushing the boundaries of musical evolution. A good album, but not one to hunt down to the ends of the earth.
