Anihilated - Created in Hate

Created with a poor mixing. - 76%

Corimngul, January 20th, 2006

The Metal Forces magazine described Created in Hate as ”The most important UK thrash release to date”. At this time, Anihilated had not fully left their punk roots, a fact that together with the production makes this album less vicious than the Ultimate Desecration. It’s pretty much Slayer without hooks, something that only works in a crossover environment.

Compared to the Ultimate Desecration, the album as a whole is somewhat less enjoyable. The guitars are drowned a bit in the mix, but even so they are weaker than they would come to be. The solos contain much Slayer worship, but there are heavy metal leads! They actually work very well, so it’s only the riffing and rhythm guitars that would need some more work.

The drumming is better though, and it’s the greatest source of joy on this album. The vocals are thick and half sung, half screamt in the way of hard punk, much like the ones on Ultimate Desecration but with a poorer mix. With a proper mixing this album would’ve been the success that Anihilated never got.
