… for the thrash premier league, but whether the band would be able to get there, that remains to be seen. Their aggressive violent thrashisms from the late-80’s didn’t make too many heads turn although theirs was a style which wasn’t miles away from what Dark Angel unleashed on “Darkness Descends” and Exumer on “Rising from the Sea”. Hasty sloppy production was the major hurdle back then as musical skills weren’t exactly lacking in spades.
Excluding the debatable abrasive vibe, the rest on this new endeavour isn’t bad at all, the guys moshing like demented with near-hardcore intensity on “Embrace the Chaos”, the initial stomping urgency of "All Systems Down" winking at the angrier 90’s but in a playful jocund fashion before a sweep of straight hard-hitting thrash becomes the order of the day once again before long. All systems seem to be up-and-running at this stage, the rising process enhanced with the ripping headacher “Rise Again” and by all means with “Thick Skinned”, a curious contrasting blend of heavy squashing rhythms and maddening proto-deathy trips. Watch out for “Black” as well, a tiring 3.5-min piece of splitting hyper-active thrash, closing this enterprise with sincerely fiery passion, the uncompromising musical approach matched by the forceful deathy semi-shouty singer every bit of the way.
A pretty acceptable package, a near-20min long journey full of energy and aggression; nothing wrong with those two if served at the right time, and 2018 seemed to be a propitious year for such hyper-active exploits, with the old school revival campaign still smouldering beckoningly. No traces of detrimental 90’s contaminants, which was a pretty possible scenario having in mind the bass player Alex Dominguez’s involvement with the groovy post-thrash formation Black Lung Conspiracy (still operational), and the Anialator continuation that the guys entertained for a number of years through the 90’s, Sufferance.
No one suffers under any yoke here, that’s for sure, the band sounding revitalized, also adding a compilation of old and unreleased tracks a few months later, obviously intent on participating more actively… if only they could abandon the EP series and go straight for the full-length… otherwise, how do they expect to pass the qualifications and rise to supremacy?
