Angel Blade - Angel Blade

I'm Looking Forward To My Rock N' Roll Songs! - 91%

CHAIRTHROWER, July 10th, 2020
Written based on this version: 2019, Digital, Dying Victims Productions (Bandcamp)

Hoisting us with red-hot mini-gallimaufry of chilled-to-the-bone, dry as fallen leaves tunes is Germany's newly arranged heavy metal arrival by colloquial name of Angel Blade and its kick-ass three track demo which, on each and every listen, brings to vestigial heart and mind snug remainders of Columbia's Diamond Chazer, Mexico's Thundergrave, Scotland's Oath and Sweden's Witches' Coven, wrapped into one, ineluctably woven package. (Sceptres, swords and broomsticks alike are aflame!)

Said power packet divulges itself to pair of downright pleasing, albeit similarly structured and lengthened, bookends in "Rock Nights" and "Angel Blade" proper, with, ensconced betwixt, an incredibly sleek and listenable, Euro-star-gripped "Blast From The Past", over which our unidentified crooner-thespian languishes, amiably, thanks to despondently mellow lower-mid range abreast Thundergrave/1970s era Judas Priest rhythmic contrivances. Say, the latter's galloping, wheel-barrow bludgeoning triplet based riff, in adherence to sinuously waltzing Haunt/Iron Maiden styled battery emanation, makes Angel Blade's debut tricorn piece a truly seizing affair.

While its brightly dark, NWOBHM evolved vocals sit low in the mix, the demo's lo-fi production and fuzzy guitar tone assure smooth sailing, so far as accessibility and/or replay-ability go. Effectively, I wish to share the secret with my fellow well bred heavy metal worthies. Available digitally or on classy cassette under Dying V. Productions, the physical copy includes commemorative sticker and button, as well.
