Temporarily, if not technically, usurping i.e. "taking the throne" as far as newly crowned kings of the new wave of traditional heavy metal go is Toronto's bone-shaking, quadruple-pronged EP attack by Ammo. Spanning a quarter-hour, this newly gleaned, as well as independent, offering grandly evokes an interminably cool dowry fit for a scream queen...ah, that is, an irredeemably Skull Fist/Hellmidian sounding enterprise which entails opener "Tombstone City" and its equally neo-shreddant and rampant successor, "Into Death", before turning it all up a notch, Mortal Whisper/Horacle style - particularly in regards to the vocals, with, as ear "bonbon" bonus, a massively Enforcer-like, fast-forwardin' guitar riff three mins into the titular twin-guitar orgy preceding a vaguely black metal-ish closer in "Marteau", er, "Hammer". (Désolé, mes amis!)
Hell, the ripping, scrap(p)ing trem at latter's incept, alongside buddy's glass shattering, indelibly sky-high victuals (which could just possibly put Horacle's Terry Fyre to shame [wizard]!), are sufficient enough to tip scales in Ammo's favor. That said, let's hope the Canadians waste no time in belting us further on down the line with eventual, considerably more extensive full-length. (In other jingoistic words, here's to Ontario bone king's next bandolier upgrade.)
