Amidst the inferno of black thrash metal that is bringing nostalgia to times where all extremity was mixed into a vicious blend, Alcoholocaust bring us their debut album following three demos to add further devastation to the scene.

Opening with a blaze of epic drums and huge guitar chords, met with soaring whammy dives, there is definitely going to be the chaotic spirit of Heavy Metal here. Building to a somewhat reserved march, the band do not want to give everything away too quickly, that being said it does not take long before thrashing maniacal riffs, upbeat drum pounding and blackened demonic vocals drive out hellish soundscapes of abyssal brutality.

Churning out a fierce blend of black metal, thrash metal and speed metal, this is some of the more nostalgic extreme metal that is definitely akin to bands like Sarcofago and Vulcano or in more recent times, Wraith, Bewitcher and Hellish. The melodies used within the speedy riffing are tight and enjoyable, as are the blistering shreds that the guitarists also conjure up. Without a strong drum performance, this would sound as weak as a sheep among goats but have no fear as this drummer blasts out a hammering array of impressive fills and catchy blasts.

With an old school production that is gorgeously suited to the music and really lets the instrumentals do their thing, it leaves the perfect space for tortured vocals to add that nasty blackened touch and even more savagery to the ripping cascade of fabulous heavy metal and they sure do deliver. If you seek a perfect blend of bestial madness and thrashing aggression, this album offers a non-stop onslaught of all that one can call extreme with every song following the previous stunningly to make for an anthemic, smooth-flowing and powerfully heavy record.

A wonderfully composed balance of brilliant songwriting, musical excellency and tight production that feels like it was ripped straight out of the late 80s with plenty of high-speed barrages contrasted with classic NWOBHM swinging grooves that blended together make for a venomous attack of flesh-tearing extreme metal insanity with total strength. Marvellous work.
