A Good Surprise from Turin - 85%

CHRISTI_NS_ANITY8, August 25th, 2007

This full length saw the light ( the black one) in 1999 after a demo recorded two years before and when I bought it was a surprise for me because it came from my hometown, Turin. Here, in this town we have some good black metal bands but none (except for Tronus Abyss) had the chance to record an album and become quite famous in the underground scene…well, Adversam did it, recording this one with a good label, Scarlet Recods.

The band’s music can be described as fast black metal with some keyboards parts, used just to create some gloomy atmospheres or sometimes to give an ancestral, magic touch to the music.
The band plays fast but the screams are not so violent and the guitar sounds are able to create a good atmosphere and melody, supported by blast beats without the too raw parts of some groups, here not necessary.

It is hard to describe their sound, being quite original. Every song gave me different feelings and emotions. Surely the first three tracks are the best ones in the album.
Here you can hear their influences that go from Emperor for the keyboards parts to Immortal for the guitar sound and distortion. I’m not saying that they play like those bands, absolutely. There is a big difference!

Adversam recorded a good album that can be welcome also abroad but something should be improved and some parts seem to be too similar to the others. A good beginning made of quite personal songs, and good music quality in general.

We are waiting for a new good album! Total support.
