Feast for the Damned, March 27th, 2019

After releasing their magnum opus debut "Witchtanic Hellucinations", they didn't make us wait for too long for some fresh material. One year later they released this EP, which might only be 8 minutes long, but it has the same crushing sound that their debut had. The incredibly heavy vocals are delivered by the one and only Lasse Pyykkö, who also did the amazing work on "Witchtanic Hellucinations" and on several Hooded Menace albums. From the amazing psychedelic doom riffs; top notch vocals and the use of synth, the whole EP has this sinister atmosphere.

The title track is your usual Acid Witch song: Keyboard intro, and a devastatingly heavy riff with the death/doom vocals we all know and love. The song doesn't overstay its welcome, clocking at almost 5 minutes, it is just long enough to give you a good idea what the band is all about. This is definitely the stronger song from the two.

"Worship the Worm" starts out as a simple death/doom song, but you don't have to wait for too long for the synth to join in. While this is a well-made song, it feels a bit weaker than the title track. The problem is not with the the instrumentation or the songwriting, the whole song feels like it is mixed differently. It's not as loud and crushing, the vocals and the guitars are suppressed by the sound of the keyboards. It's still a good song by all means, but the mixing should have been similar to the first one.

Conclusion: While the first song is better in every single way, "Worship the Worm" is a fine addition to the Acid Witch discography, and the two song together make an amazing EP. This isn't the best Acid Which release by any means, but it's a nice successor to Witchtanic Hellucinations.
