Abske Fides - ...Apart of the World

Incredible Doom Laden Music. - 90%

erickg13, April 6th, 2007

Imagine the doomiest, most morose music you have ever heard. Take that, and multiply it by ten, and that’s what you’ll find on Abske Fides “…Apart of the World”.

“…Apart of the World” is a mixture of doom metal, with influences taken from death and black metal (particularly the vocals) and a bit of an ambient vibe just for good nature. All of this builds up to make a stronger overall product, and also allows for a much wider audience to listen to. For example, I could see a doom metal fan getting into this just as much as black metal or death metal fan.

The album is split into 3 songs, however, it should be taken in as a whole. The album opens with the mostly ambient track “Post Morttum”, which also has a bit of an orchestral vibe too. Next you have “Hopeless Drowned in Silence” which has a bit more of a death metal vibe, but also has an undeniable drone metal element, as does most of this album. And closing the album is the ‘opus’ (if you will) of the album “Creep of the Last Human”, which comes in at a stunning 12 minutes, and is this thing slooooooooowwwwwww. However this is the best song of the album, but that is not a big distinction as the album as a whole is pretty damn good.

Overall, Abske Fides “…Apart of the World” is quite a good piece of music, and to think it’s only a demo! I can see fans of the both doom and black metal particularly liking this, but also some death metal fans may like this too. This is another great example of great underground music, that you may have to search for, but when you do find it, the reward is tremendous.
