Abrupt Demise - Aborted from Life

Killing death metal - 76%

“Abrupt Demise plays killing death metal”. That’s a good description of what you can expect from these Dutch guys. When I listened to this 3 track promo for the first time, it reminded me of (early) Vital Remains. I’m not exactly sure why, so it must have been the overall feeling of this compact release.

‘Self Inflicted’ starts with a rather catchy riff, which contrasts very well with the more rhythm orientated refrain. Death meets Cannibal Corpse should hint you in the right direction. The second song is somewhat less subtle and with its bold placed one shot ear attack in the middle of a stop, this is my favorite track. I simply love that hard hit on the drum, smashing the silence. Bam! And off we are for a tasty blast beat. ‘Information Overload’ is also featured on the ‘Metal Inside vol.1’ death/thrash compilation by BigBadWolfRecords (BBWR-13). As ‘Flatlined’ finishes off the last men standing, my finger is already hovering over the repeat button.

Solid guitar work, drums rattling like a machine gun and grunts that vary in sound, make this ‘Aborted From Life’ a nice death metal release. Nothing outstanding, but total DIY style with high quality sound and full color artwork. It’s a pity it only lasts less than ten minutes, but then again: the CD (not a CD-R!) only cost me € 4,-. If you catch Abrupt Demise live and you like what you hear: support these guys and buy their promo. By the way, this is not a live recording as the title may imply.
