These Are the Ruins of Mine

Abigail is a romanian band wich started in 1994 , so they have 15 years of experience.'' These are the ruins of mine '' is their first official release.The genre of this demo is doom\death metal , but the band will go in a near future to change their style to gothic metal .

This demo strongly remembers me of the Gathering's beginings like the '' An imaginary Simphony'' demo and '' Moonlight Archer'' wich i enjoy too. The demo starts with a meodiocre to weak intro composed by a series of synthetizator sounds. Nothing remarcable. Then it goes into the longest track of the album calld : " Die before the Rise" with i think is a very monothon track , bad vocals, the song is just too long and there is nothing to enthusiat for. The third track is " Outcast" wich i like very much , i think is the best song from this demo . What makes it so good? The female vocals from the beging of this song , really nice it gives the song such an epic approach and the poor production just makes it better , very nice .The next track is " Find the light into me" wich is similar to the second song , but on this one is used more the synthetizatoe stuff wich makes it better and has a catchy synthetizator melody. The guitar here doesen't sound so good, but is a worthy listen . In the next track , "Dawn" , is used clean vocals wich i enjoy , sound somehow similar to My Dying Bride , nice again. "Dies Irae" is a very short song(only 2 minutes) with clean vocals and good atmpsphere reminds me of the Heroes game series with i like very much . And the lasa song is called " The Threat a very simple song with a repetitive synthetizathor sound and poor production , sounds worse than the other songs from the demo , i don't know why.

So, this is the first official release of the romanian band Abigail . You can live without listening to it , but if you're a doom\death metal fan you should take a listen to this , i think you will not be dissapointed.
