Written based on this version: 2022, Digital, Hypnotic Dirge Records (Bandcamp)

In the world of extreme metal you are most likely to come across artists doing side-projects that express a more emotional and personal side of their musical persona, which is the case of Canadian melodic death/doom metal one-man band Тишина, founded by Branislav Panić, well known for being the founder and frontman of Serbian melodic black/death metal band Bane. The musical work of Тишина is mostly influenced by giants such as Saturnus, October Tide, Mourning Beloveth and Doom:VS, with lyrical inspirations that came mainly from the book of poems "Nad Vodama Aheronta", written by Serbian author Predrag Rava. Тишина presented itself with a debut full-length album "Увод...", co-released between Hypnotic Dirge Records (Canada), Satanath Records (Georgia) & The End Of Time Records (Ireland).

"Увод..." is mostly consisted of melancholic and melodic songwriting with lyrics that express feelings of grief and sorrow, although with the exception of the third track "Утеха" which is a short 48 second instrumental acoustic interlude between songs. All the songs have slow, melodic and somewhat alternative doom metal riffs with melodic guitar leads, deep growling vocals and slow tempo drumming that switches to double-bass drumming on the second track "Две Црне Руже". Tracks "Из Мртвог Угла" and "Заувек" probably leave the strongest impression on this album due to their heavy emotional musical nature expressed in their lyrics and compositions, which would probably be my personal favorites. The biggest highlight of this album is the songwriting and sound production by Honza Kapák, beautifully mixing and mastering everything with precision and care. If there were any issues with this album, I would probably say there are only a few but minor ones. The first issue of this album is that it's too short for a death/doom release with a total length of 30 minutes, which is a very quick jump to conclusion for this musical satisfaction. The second issue would be the weird "voodoo" style cover art, which I had a hard time explaining myself what it's supposed to mean, but the only explanation I could come across is that it's a creature with many eyes but no mouth, symbolizing "silence" as the main theme of the band. Overall these are very minor issues that don't ruin the album as a whole, and shouldn't prevent anyone from giving it a try.

"Увод..." is a great introduction for Тишина and it does its job by pleasing you in these 30 minutes of melodic death/doom metal. Branislav's different musical take was certainly not a misfire, it was well-received by many and more people are joining the ride to embrace this flow of musical emotions. I hope that we won't be waiting too long before we get another release from this band, because I am more than eager to hear more in the near future.
