Solid as...Ferroconcrete ! - 85%

Nacherer, January 4th, 2007

First I must add Železobeton [or Zhelezobeton], which in english means ferro-concrete, were among the pioneers of the Slovenian Extreme Metal.

Their demo The Sound Of The Building Ground is well accomplished work, line-up is compact and technically well-trained here, which finds expression in the intro track: Prayer to Sorrow.
The Sound Of The Building Ground is effective fusion of Heavy/Thrash,with old-school Death Metal influences and even punching HC grooves at times
[track #08: We Want, We Need, We Play!]. It could easily be accepted by either Heavy/Thrash/Death Metal or even HC listeners. Sound is clear, convincing and penetrating overall. Production could been better, but is solid enough, though, due to circumstances for that time around 1991 in Slovenia. Demo was recorded during the time of occupation in war-time for Slovenia in 1991 [note on the inside-cover]. Piercing scream-thrash vocals stands out, while bass tones stays more in the background. Drums can be described maybe a bit too artificial or synthetic. Demo contains 13 tracks average 2-2,5 min in length, all lyrics are in english, well written and not too complicated, so one can easily sing-a-long with his fav refrain.

It's a 'sweetmeat' for those, who first of all love to listen to Thrash/Death Metal [bands like Metallica, Slayer, Kreator, Sepultura, Death].
