Nazi zombies dancing with drunk beauty pageants - 25%

After two varied but decent releases, Korrozia Metalla's latest strike which could be translated to Goddess of the Morgue is a step backwards and quite an oddball. The laughable cover artwork can be seen as a warning for this weird potpourri but it also summarizes Sergey "Pauk" Troitsky's favourite lyrical topics from beautiful women over racist ideologies to characters from horror cinema and literature.

The first half of the record is still bearable. The first few songs can be classified as thrash metal but while the two previous records heavily flirted with industrial and gothic rock elements, these new songs rather incorporate melodic punk elements. Occasional additional female vocals add an unusual melodic note and contrast the raw male vocals quite well.

The record really loses steam in its odd second half. The record includes four classic band songs re-imagined as electro-pop songs of the worst kind that recall Eurodance abominations of the mid-nineties that nobody wants to remember anymore. Boom shakalaka on da dance floor tonight! Once again, this reinvention can't be qualified as open-minded but rather as lazy attempt at transforming a passable extended play into a confusing full length effort.

The closing live version of ''The Vampire Tank'' can't be seen as reconciliation either since the track is stretched with unnecessary introductory and concluding speeches in front of what seem to be a few dozen drunk fans. The track itself is a decent cold-hearted thrash metal tune but this version is absolutely unnecessary.

In the end, Korrozia Metalla's Goddess of the Morgue would have been an average crossover thrash metal record with the usual odd mixture of lyrics about zombies, Nazis and beauty pageants it it had ended after he first seven songs. The last five tracks really drag this record down and make it at times unbearable. Instead of a serious artistic release, this record is the equivalent of a drunk third-rate comedian opening for a better performer in a shady bar in front of ten drunkards on a Tuesday night. People like Tila Tequila might like this but normal people sure won't.
