Despite that John Hand appears in the album booklet, he did not play on this album and joined Death after the album was recorded.

The song "Sacrificial" originally was named "Sacrificial Cunt" but the label has asked the band to shorten the title, possibly to avoid getting PMRC attention on their case.

"Zombie Ritual" was inspired by the 1979 film Zombie directed by Italian director Lucio Fulci.
"Regurgitated Guts" was inspired by Fulci's film City of the Living Dead (a.k.a. "The Gates of Hell").
"Evil Dead" was inspired by the 1981 film The Evil Dead directed by Sam Raimi.
"Beyond the Unholy Grave" was influenced by the 1981 film The Beyond (also directed by Fulci).
