Despite popular belief, Strange Hobby is not a moniker, but just the album's title. The album was a complete mystery and confused listeners due to Lucassen's insistence on keeping his involvement in the project a secret. He released the album without artist name and was not credited for any participation. To make the album even more "strange", the booklet contains no information about Lucassen and don't explain who was responsible for the recordings. Instead of a name, it shows only a "?" (noted on the center of the cover and on the CD itself). The record features covers of some songs that have influenced Lucassen's musical development, mainly from the 1960s. It is the only album of his career, since Bodine, where he did not participate as a composer (despite making all the vocals and instruments and arranging all the songs himself).
