Founded in 1971 as ZYX Records by Bernhard Mikulski in Westerwald, Germany that in 1982 was renamed ZYX Music. Since Bernhard's 1997 death, the company's been run by his wife, Christa Mikulski. It has its own recording production factory and music publishing companies.
ZYX Music's head office is in Merenberg, in the state of Hessen, with branches in almost all European countries as well as the USA.
Sublabels include Caramelle Recordings, Dance Street Gmbh, Elbtaler Schallplatten, Golden Core, Golden Sound, Heads or Tails, Pepper Cake, That's Trance, ZYX Classic, ZYX Music, ZYX Metallic & ZYX Metal as well as several others.
Different record label colors were introduced between 1978 to 1988 and included various shades of green, yellow and blue as well as single shades of red, black, silver, beige, orange and pink.
