Not to be confused with a much lesser-known 80s label also named Rising Records, which was also from the UK.

Some bands claim that this label ripped them off and got them into debt with it after signing record contracts in which the bands had to pay the label to get their stuff released. Mendeed is presumed to be one of these bands, which apparently broke up because of their debt owed to Rising.

In early 2013, several bands claimed that Mark Daghorn, owner of Rising Records, not only ripped them off, but took the money they paid for recordings and used it to open a restaurant on Barbados. Rising Records was thus officially closed on the 11th of December, 2012.
In September of 2020 it was reported that the Barbados restaurant had burned down.
