Founded in Denver, Colorado by Nuclear Blast president Markus Staiger, Relapse Records founder Matthew Jacobson and Relapse collaborator Bill Yurkiewicz. Nuclear Blast still owned the Nuclear Blast America sub-label, but at the time, it was marketed in the US by Relapse Records. In May 1991 Relapse / Nuclear Blast America relocated from Denver, Colorado to Millersville, Pennsylvania.
Around the year 1996, the collaboration between Relapse Records and Nuclear Blast America eventually ended and as a result, Nuclear Blast America became its own entity and Nuclear Blast GmbH set up its own U.S.A. branch: Nuclear Blast America, Inc. In 1997, Nuclear Blast America, Inc. then made the move from Millersville, PA to start its own office in Tampa, FL. In the early years of 2000, Nuclear Blast America, Inc. made the move to a new office in Philadelphia, PA.
In late 2000, Nuclear Blast America, Inc. then struck a strategic partnership deal with Century Media Records and thus, relocated once again, heading west to California. The Nuclear Blast America, Inc. office hit the ground running from a home-based office in Los Angeles, CA shared with Century Media Records.
In 2012 Markus Staiger had joined forces with former Roadrunner Records A&R chief Monte Conner in the formation of a new U.S. partnership – Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
