Famous metal label originally based in Old Bridge, NJ founded by Jon (aka Jonny Z) and Marsha Zazula, responsible for helping promote thrash metal in the 1980s by issuing some of the earliest releases by Metallica, Anthrax, Overkill, and Testament. They were also one of the first US-based labels to distribute titles by Venom and Mercyful Fate. The label's profile declined in the 1990s but they are still active and have issued records by non-metal bands such as Bad Brains, Clutch, the Meat Puppets, Ace Frehley, and Disco Biscuits, as well as more metallic bands like Ministry and Anthrax.
Jon and Marsha later sold the label in 2000, to one of their long-time (since 1989) employees, Missi Callazzo. Missi had been VP of the company since 1990. As of 2017, she has stepped down as VP.
