F.O.A.D. was started by Marco Garripoli as a skate/hardcore/thrash fanzine on Xeroxed paper. Seven issues were published between 1986-1990, with all of them limited to a few hundred copies.
In the years to follow, F.O.A.D. gradually turned into a D.I.Y. label that released mainly unreleased recordings on cassette. After a long hiatus, in 2006 the label returned to activity with some co-productions of local hardcore bands on compact disc.
In fall 2009, F.O.A.D. Records started a series of vinyl releases mostly dedicated to reissues of the bands that it used to enjoy back in the real thrash/hardcore days & were interviewed in the old F.O.A.D. ‘zine.
The basic aim of today’s F.O.A.D. is to provide top quality reissues of treasures lost in the past, complete with all possible information, photos, flyers, 'zine interviews & unreleased material. The label is not only focused on ’80s reissues, but is also open to new bands showing attitude & originality in a musical scene contaminated by a lack of creativity & a uniform to bullshit mainstream standards, having forgotten what this was all about when it started.
