Hoest has finally recorded the new anticipated Taake album, simply entitled “Taake” for his own label Svartekunst Produksjoner.

The CD version is licenced to Dark Essence Records and is due to be released in Europe by the end of 2008.
The LP version will be released early 2009 exclusively through Svartekunst Produksjoner. This double vinyl
features a cover version of the Burzum classic “A lost forgotten sad Spirit” as bonus track, as well as
different cover and poster.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been absolutely enamoured with Taake's Doedskvad since I first heard it. I hope their next one will follow suit.

Excellent. I have high expectations for this, but I doubt Høst would create a major failure.

Yes!!! Should be great! I'm really excited to see if he returns to the older style, or continues in the more raw style of the EP's. Either way, I'm sure it'll be great!

All of Taake's material is very good, and Over Bjoergvin... is fucking great. Really looking forward to this one.

They are all good, but Nattestid was the best in my opinion, I still remember hearing it for the first time. . especially the fourth track, the instumental one. . . it was a masterpiece from beginning to end!

Nattestid has some incredible riffs, but the production kills some of the enjoyment for me. Besides, Over Bjoergvin... has a melodic, folky vibe that is just awesome.

I think Nattestid's production serves the music perfectly. Couldn't be any better. It takes a few listens to get used to it, but after a while it gets completely awesome.

And I'm really looking forward to the new album.

Taake is essentially an orgy of melody and riffs.

I can't wait for the new album. Nattestid and Over Bjoergvin were fucking amazing.

Sweet. :hail:

Hoest has been doing to many splits and EP's lately, and they're inferior to his full lengths, so I can't fuckin' wait.

I still have to buy Doedskvad...hehe, but anyway, great news. I'd rather buy one Taake cd, than 1000 other black metal cd's. It's all about quality.
Saw them once Live in the Netherlands, in 2002 I think, together with Horna. 'Goat Guts over Europe Tour'. Absolutely amazing performace. Taake owned the place!

I guess today will have to be the day for me to check out Taake. Might as well look into some Tsjuder as well.

There's some things i've really liked from Taake, but overall i've never understood the appeal of the music. There's one song on Over... that has one of the best riffs ever; but besides that i usually get bored listening to Taake. And with that song i skip just to the exact riff, then go listen to something else.

Sweet, this looks like it will be the highlight of late 2008/early 2009. I will definitely go for the vinyl. Maybe the CD too if I have money to spare, Taake are a great band.

I'm hoping it regresses to the Nattestid/Bjoergvin days personally!

I'm hoping, like alot of his songs, he keeps alot of variety in his songwriting. One thing I like about some of Taake's earlier works is that the music never gets boring and has lots of tempo changes, new riffs, etc.

I've never been overly impressed with Taake in the way most in theis thread seem to be, however, enjoy the band to some extent so I'd say I'm pretty excited.

Can't wait for this to come out. I'm a huge fan of the three Taake full-lengths and I have suitably high expectations for this one.

Seconded, but in any case it's good news to have more Taake stuff.

Don't know the original source, but this is supposedly what Høst has said on the matter:

I was reported to the police by an individual whose face I so elegantly rearranged due to his unacceptable behaviour. But enough about that, I do not want this to turn into another rumor thing as some of you might just be familiar with this person. Anyway, looking back, my prison experience was just a boring waste of time in a jailhouse whose only priority was to deprive the prisoners of their freedom but let them have as much of their everyday life as possible still intact. I could even had the whole band over both days in the weekend for several hours of rehearsing in an always-available music-room fully equipped. I suppose Norwegian jails are a joke compared to those of other countries."
from http://www.metal1.info/vb/archive/index ... 24461.html

Though others in the thread mostly joked that it was due to the infamous "penispic." [eyeroll]

I can't imagine it being as good as Nattestid, which to me is Taake's only truly good album. The rest get more and more boring and forgettable as they go on.

I know DLing music is generally frowned upon here but I love this band so I went ahead and downloaded it (will pick it up whenever it releases in US though). I definitely enjoyed it, but I enjoyed all of Taake's albums so far. Though I have only given it a few plays I think that I might rank it 2nd behind Nattesid in my opinion.

Wondering if anyone else has listened to it yet?

I did not like it at all. No Taake album compares to Nattestid or Hordalands. It seems to me it is time for Hoest to call it quits.

Nah, no way...well, at leaste not yet. I listened to the new album, and it may not be better than Nattestid and Doedskvad, but its definantly better than Bjoergvin. I just found Bjoergvin very boring and his worst album. So no, I don't think they've reached their end...yet. Oh and nothing will ever beat Nattestid, which is my favorite album by him.

The new album overall was pretty good and enjoyable, I really liked how it sounded. I would say that the sound of the album is comparable to Doedskvad, which is good news for many. I especially liked the last track from the new album.
