As of yet no reason given. RIP, one of the best thrash metal drummers. A sad day for Sodom fans everywhere. Cheesy yet poignant Sodom reference - Remember the Fallen!

Yep, that's the one. He was known to have alcohol problems, I wouldn't be surprised if that had something to do with his death.

It's always sad to see a fellow metalhead die, especially when they were in a great band.

This is sad to hear, but apparently he had a lot of problems with alcoholism etc. I remember in a few interviews I read around the time of the re-recording of In the Sign of Evil Tom saying how difficult it was trying to work with him because of his alcohol abuse and how his health was in decline.

Not to say I'm happy hes dead or anything, but honestly I'm having troubles caring. He wasn't currently playing for anyone, he was never a particularly skilled drummer, and I don't seem to recall him writing a hell of a lot of material either (correct me if I'm wrong).

Quorthon dying was bad news, Eric Friesen dying the same, Chris Witchhunter dying isn't particularly upsetting.

Honour to you, brother. May your pouding beats forever resound through the halls of eternity.

Chris Witchhunter's death was like his drumming: awkward and poorly timed.

The same could be said about Angelripper and Grave Violator in the early days.

Chris may not have been a great drummer but the Sodom albums he played on are classics.

R.I.P. Chris Witchhunter

Currently playing Nuclear Winter. After I read this I turned on Agent Orange.

Could you please elaborate on the awkward part? No tricks here, just wanted to know so I could listen more closely to his work on the early albums.

Shame whenever a fellow dedicated metalhead dies anytime. I played Agent Orange earlier today in it's entirety, I shall do such again.

I was just fucking around, I know his timing on early Sodom was pretty bad though.

Has a metal musician ever died due to old age?

The style hasn't really been around long enough for that to start happening.

Dunno, how old was Ben Munkirs (ex-Manilla Road) when he died, and what did he die of?

It's a shame, of course - the cool guys from awesome bands die all the time and the mallcore pricks live forever.

Anyway, on to Agent Orange :np:

He absolutely slayed on Tapping the Vein. Probably the best thrash album for drumming I've ever heard. Absolutely awesome.

R.I.P. dude.

What do you define as 'old age' anyway; do you just mean natural death or due to aging specifically?

To my knowledge Bobby is only in his 50s but I have heard he is a drug addict and using crack and or meth which could explain his appearance.

Damn.

Just the other day I saw a band do an absolutley flooring version of "Blasphemer" and I was thinking what a maniac the drummer was. I do think CChris was great .. a little wobbly sometimes but it added to his personality as a player. Hell, his solos on "A MOrtal Way of Live" are even pretty interesting and fun, a rarity for sure.
