I think that the lineup should be part of the information for all of the albums on the site. It's definitely a very imporant part of the record! I know that there are a lot of albums that list the lineup, but there are a lot that don't. I think it should be encouraged, if not required, when putting up information about a new album, because with some bands that have a revolving-door lineup it's impossible to know who's doing what on a particular album unless you have the liner notes in front of you. Also of course information such as producers/engineers, where it was recorded, etc, is useful. Even things like, what amps/guitars/drums were used, if someone has that information, it would be cool to be able to add that as well. Basically I think the more information about an album that can be posted, the better (as long as it's factual of course). What is Metal Archives' policy towards this sort of stuff?

Feel free to use the report function to do it, no problem for me

Just be sure you gather the correct info about the line-up

You can write everything you want except insults & personal opinions

Well also, notes can be interesting but please don't exaggerate though

For example I never write

"cover design by X (or sometimes if the guy is well known like Kris Verwimp), booklet photos by XX, thanks to our friend blablabla"

Another thing that I hope will improve on V2 = accents such as umlauts ö, ä, ü etc

At some point they get fucked up and it's not always easy to transcribe the words again

Yeah, it'll be fixed. Just like Wikipedia, MA will use UTF-8, though oriental characters will still require the user to install them on his computer.

Oh, sweet. When is this fabled V2 coming out, and how drastic a change? Will the layout stay the same, or will it be a complete overhaul?

Either way, sounds like I can't wait :)

I wasn’t sure to where to put this, but here it goes:

A suggestion:

How about creating a sub-page in the bands discography for tribute albums (ex. Slayer-"Slatanic slaughter" or Black Sabbath "Masters of misery", "Nativity in black" , Bathory -"In conspiracy with satan" , etc, etc, etc)

I don’t know if this was already discussed, but if it hasn’t, it sure should have some attention, or shouldn’t it....?
This way the real Gods of Metal woud be more noticed and "seperated" from the common underground band .

cheers
