There'a mistake I've pointed many times, but since there seems to be discussion over it, I think it would be good to vent it here.
There's a new update on the V8 site on the Additional Notes:
"A reunion taked place on 1996, playing several concerts and recording a live album. Iorio (original bass player) was disapointed with this reunion, so the bass guitar was played by Miguel Roldan (who played guitar on last studio album). The Iorio absence divided the fans opinion about this reunion."
According to this, the album Homenaje (Homage to V8) is an official V8 recording, and the last official line-up was the one now listed.
Alberto "Beto" Zamarbide - vocals
Osvaldo Civile (R.I.P. 28th April 1999 - suicide)
Miguel Roldán - bass
Gustavo Rowek - drums
I pointed this mistake in the past, more than twice (there was even a reminder to not post Homenaje). Why? Because V8 was formed by Iorio and he has the right to use the name. A reunion without Iorio IS NOT AN OFFICIAL V8 Reunion (imagine a Murray, Gers, Smith, McBrain, Dickinson album with Gers on bass... is that a Maiden release?).
Now, the excuse is that "Homenaje" means a "Homage to V8 fans". That's bullshit, it means it is a tribute to V8 and that's it. Otherwise, why was it excluded from the Anthology made by Rowek (who was in the Homage)?
Adrián Cenci, drummer for V8 at their last album, laughed at the homage saying it was senseless without Iorio. The fact that Iorio didn't press law action against them doesn't mean they used legitimately the name of V8.
So, the mistakes on the page are:
- Homenaje is not official
- The last official line-up is:
Alberto "Beto" Zamarbide - vocals
Miguel Roldán - Guitars
Ricardo Iorio - Bass
Adrián Cenci - Drums
- An additional one: Osvaldo Civile's cause of death is still unclear.
