I think that this album was originally called "Illusions", they originally titled it "Illusions" but changed it to "Chemical Exposure".

Yep. Changed it for the better, that original artwork was pretty bad too.

The opposite is true in my book. I don't like the CE-artwork, nor the title. "Illusions" it is!

Thanks! I'm glad you discovered a new band. Trizna are one of the most underrated thrash bands to come from Russia.

I would say most of the Death-Thrash and Brutal-Thrash classics could be named here:

Incubus
Num Skull
Devastation
Morbid Saint
Cabal
Massacra
Explicit Hate
Revenant
Solstice
Silent Scream
Vulcano
Overthrow
Attomica
Gammacide
Torture
Aggression
Energetic Krusher
Rigor Mortis
and so on...

Yup, pretty much agree with the above and previous posts. I'd add Demolition Hammer and also the Brazilians Deathraiser (Violent Aggression) who obviouslty are influenced by Attomica and Sepultura (add a Kreator mix of Pleasure/Extreme and you have it).

Deathrash is such a great crossover / transitional period between thrash and death. Love it.

One of the younger bands, that play their stuff very much in the vein of late eighties Sepultura, are brazilian Decimator. Their second album "Bloodstained" is really good.

Can anyone recommend any underground bands or albums that sound similar to the first two Megadeth albums in terms of feel, production and songwriting? I've searched for years and the closest I've found is the band Rezet which is pretty cool but nothing badass. Thanks!

Ι only ever came across one song that reminded me very much of old Megadeth. Thrash Metal Holocaust by Vortex.

The album has also a lot of stuff that point to Megadeth and is well worth checking out.

German band Mechanix (who expected that?) sounds pretty much like early Megadeth.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCqEW63UgJY

And Running Death would have been my second call.

Now this is how i like my thrash. Short, fast and full of anger. Any other recs in this vein? Be carefull: NO municipal waste clones. Because there's a thin line here between crossover( Evil Army; Iron Reagan, Birth A.D) and thrash.

Not the be the bringer of bad news: Allthough your list rocks, they're not really underrated. For instance Cyclone's Inferior to none is MUCH more underrated than the debut. MPG from Target is Just quite the opposite from their debut. Same as the difference as DBC's debut and their universe album.

One album i see that's not mentioned very much is Blessed Death's Destined for Extinction. Pray for death, Death in the sky are masterpieces of thrash

Any Tyrant's Reign fans here?

I'm listening to their s/t compilation and this is great melodic power/thrash along the lines of Metal Church or early Anthrax with great vocals.

I really like their Year of the Tyrants ep, but I gave their compilations a try which feature re-recorded versions and didn't care much for those.

YEP!!! Totally right man!! They were better than Vortex & Running Death. I mean closer in sound to KIMBABIG & PSBWB.

I am just revisiting Year of the Tyrants. Got it years ago as a freebie from Stormspell and heard it a few times but never gave it much attention. This is much better than I remember it being. It's actually thrashier than I expected.

Thanks for bringing it up ToB!

Absolutely. IIRC they were specifically formed by two members of a Megadeth forum with the sole intent to clone early MD.

I just wish the production was a bit better, and is that a drum machine I hear? Nevertheless, they get pretty darn close many times to matching the real thing.

My full review of them is here: https://rateyourmusic.com/list/GeneralZ ... -of-art/4/ (scroll down)

NP: Harlott - Extinction

Pretty crushtastic thrash metal that is very well-played. The songs aren't really sticking in my head as much though, which seems to be the case with most new thrash, but they can play as well as most any thrash band out there these days. Congrats to them on getting signed to Metal Blade, although I guess with them releasing material this strong it isn't too surprising.

Any other opinions on these young Aussies?

Harlott is a favourite of mine. I never quite got into the second album, but the first and third are both excellent.

I agree that not necessarily every song sticks, but the playing is just so tight. Extinction is probably my favourite of the three.

If you like Harlott, you should check out Mason. They're also from Australia and similar in style, though perhaps a little more melodic. I genuinely think Tears of Tragedy is one of the greatest thrash anthems.

Cool, thanks for sharing that. I think the double bass fills during the middle section are my favorite part. Yeah, I'd agree with this being more melodic than Harlott.

I seem to recall Australia having a pretty strong thrash scene, maybe even better than the UK? IIRC there was a band called Demolition there that were very Annihilator-ish. Also Allegiance and Mortal Sin of course.

I'm just now getting around to commenting on ThrashFanatic's lists. Sounds like we have very similar tastes! I pasted them below and added my comments. Looks like I have some listening that I need to do.

Iron Stream - Sign - I still need to hear this one
Klinika - Lottery Ticket - I still need to hear this one
Meliah Rage - Kill To Survive - I've not been super-impressed by MR, but some of their recent work sounds promising
Paradox - Heresy - I've never been into this one too much. Needs more riffery IMHO
Artillery - By Inheritance - Total Thrashterpiece
Xentrix - Shattered Existence - Their best album. Pretty cool stuff.
Mordred - Fool's Game - Pretty cool stuff. Good musicians. Need to listen to it more.
Blind Illusion - The Sane Asylum - Great stuff! I'm a huge fan and I'm so glad they're active again.
Watchtower - Control And Resistance - Total classic! I used to be obsessed with this one.
Hexenhaus - The Edge Of Eternity - Pretty cool stuff. I like this band but don't love them. New album coming soon?
Sacrosanct - Recessed To The Depraved - Great album. Dark atmosphere
Wargasm - Why Play Around? - Great stuff. Good musicians. Classic "street thrash".
Visitor - Visitor - Great stuff, especially the title track!
Indestructible Noise Command - Razorback - I still need to hear this one
Target - Master Project Genesis - Love this one. Great vocals and some classic tunes.
Acid Storm - Biotronic Genesis - Very cool stuff. Good vocals.
Anvil Bitch - Rise To Offend - I still need to hear this one
Gothic Slam - Killer Instinct - I still need to hear this one. I've never been super impressed by GS in the past
Kublai Khan - Annihilation - I don't remember liking this one too much but it's been a long time
Cyclone - Brutal Destruction - I need to hear it again. It didn't grab me on first listen.
Indestroy - Indestroy - I still need to hear this one. I love Senseless Theories.
Viking - Man Of Straw - Really cool stuff! Reminds me of "Time Does Not Heal" at times.
Powermad - Absolute Power - Good album with some classics on there.
Cyclone Temple - I Hate Therefore I Am - Reminds me of "Time Does Not Heal" at times. "Words are just Words" is a total classic.
Shah - Beware - Didn't stick out to me but I'll listen to it again.
Аспид - Кровоизлияние - Very cool kult tech-thrash.
Mercenary - Demo 1986 - Great stuff! The 1987 demo is junk though!
Nocturn - Enstranged Dimensions - Reminds me of "Time Does Not Heal" at times.
Incursion Dementa - All This Is... - Didn't stick out to me but I'll try it again
Vulture - Easier To Lie - Sounds like Forbidden's little brother without the fancy guitar solos. Quite enjoyable stuff.
Aragon - Aragon - I still need to hear this one.
Infected - Dark Century - I still need to hear this one.
Aggression - The Full Treatment - I still need to hear this one.
Hirax - Raging Violence - I'll check it out but what I've heard from Hirax didn't do much for me.
Dyoxen - First Among Equals - Very cool Megadeth-ish thrash crossed with punk. Needs a reissue!
Pyracanda - Two Sides Of A Coin - I still need to hear this one.
Pariah - Blaze Of Obscurity - I still need to hear this one.
Apocalypse - Apocalypse - I still need to hear this one.
Grinder - Dawn For The Living - I still need to hear this one.
Hirax - Hate, Fear And Power - See other Hirax release above.
Quick Change - Circus Of Death - This one didn't stick out to me but I'll give it another chance.
Valkyria - Валькирия - Totally underrated mindblowing tech/prog thrash!
Deathrow - Deception Ignored - Cool stuff but overrated compared to "Life Beyond" IMHO.
Mactep - Mactep - Keep hearing goods things about this but need to listen to it more.
Kalaschnikov - The Torture Never Stops - I still need to hear this one.
Meanstreak - Roadkill - Didn't do much for me but I'll try it again.
Acrophet - Corrupt Minds - I wanna hear it. I think their drummer almost joined Slayer a couple of times.
Heretic - Breaking Point - Sounded more USPM to my ears and less distinct but I'll give it another try.
Disciples Of Power - Powertrap - Good chops but becomes riff soup to my ears pretty quickly.
Evil Sinner - Evil Sinner - I still need to hear this one.
Virus - Lunacy - I still need to hear this one.
Donor - Triangle Of The Lost - Pretty good stuff.
Seducer - Trials And Tribulations - I still need to hear this one.
Blessed Death - Destined For Extinction - A bit more "speed metal" than thrash to me. I need to hear it more.
Energetic Krusher - Path To Oblivion - I still need to hear this one.
Affliction - The Damnation Of Humanization - I still need to hear this one.
Agony - The First Defiance - I still need to hear this one.
Eviction - The World Is Hours Away - I still need to hear this one.
Gammacide - Victims Of Science - Great riffy Texas thrash with some sloppy blast beats at times.
Trizna - Out Of Step - Good chops. Need to listen to it more.
Silence - Vision - Really impressive crushing "aggro-thrash" with awesome chops.
Iceland - Iceland - I still need to hear this one.
Dementia - Recuperate From Reality - I think I've heard it but don't remember
Asphyxia - Exit:Reality - same as above
Sacrifice - Soldiers Of Misfortune - Sacrifice are merely OK to me. I know tons of people like them and I enjoy them at times. Anyone like their latest album?
Antidote - Total - I spent a lot of time listening to their debut but not this one as much. Another one I definitely need to hear. It's less thrashy though, right?
Leviathen - Onward Thru The Fog - I still need to hear this one.

(BTW Mr. Thrash Fanatic, if you like all these albums you may really like my band's latest album "Overlord". I was influenced by a lot of the same stuff you enjoy.)

Hidden Intent "Fear, Prey, Demise" is my favourite album so far this year. Got it when I saw them in February. Pure Aussie Thrash!
Descecrator "To The Gallows" from last year is bloody excellent too. And while I'm at it, I gotta recommend Mortal Sin "Psychology Of Death". Great comeback album... and then they were gone again.

Ah cool, I saw Hidden Intent on their Europe tour with Lich KIng last year - good live band and nice guys!

Talking about Aussie Thrash I can say, that I love both typical streams - the mangy-rabidly Black Thrash by bands like Shrapnel, Bloodlust or Shackles, and also the cleaner stuff from In Malice's Wake, Sabretung or Dark Order. Not to speak about the classics (Mortal Sin, Hobbs AOD, Addictive,...). Australia is one of best areas for Thrash on the planet.

Yeah, I agree. Searching M-A I was surprised how many thrash bands I found.

I think my favorite Aussie thrash song is still "I am Immortal" by Mortal Sin.

New Tantara song:

I'm not the biggest fan of their old stuff, but this doesn't quite grab me either. The vocals are a little out there, which I suppose is good in thrash since most modern bands have very samey sounding vocals. I will probably still give the album a try when it comes out.

+1 for Thrashist Regime. They really stepped up their game. They were a good neothrash band before (loved The Last Hunt from their debut) but they delivered a killer album this time.

Love that one, have been listening to that the whole month. Similar to these norwegians, some swedish guys with their band called "insane" released the album "evil" last year.

have a look at these guys:

Does it ok to recommend here my own band? Our recent album got good reviews from Metal Hammer, AngryMetalGuy, InvisibleOranges so I think it not so bad...

We are from Kazakhstan so reviews I mentioned very falttered to us. You can listen our album here: https://zarraza.bandcamp.com/album/necroshiva

And there is a free download of a single from previous demo: https://zarraza.bandcamp.com/track/zombie-kids
