Song is pretty good, vocals are solid but would be better with Russell Allen. I'm just glad it's not an all instrumental album.

I like it. It's basically Symphony X lite but it's pretty good Symphony X lite. Hopefully the rest of this is as adventurous as the promo makes it sound.

Not too bad. A bit boring and it sounds basically identical to the last two SX albums... vocals are kinda weak but maybe that's just comparing him to Russell.

Does every SX member just have their own side project now?

I was thinking the same thing. Mike LePond is in so many active bands (Waken Eyes, Silent Assassins, Ross the Boss, Eternity's End, etc.) and now seeing Romeo releasing a new solo album really dampers my hopes that we will see a new Symphony X record any time soon. Romeo's single sounds pretty good, but like everyone has said it sounds like Symphony X without Russell Allen. And no matter how good a vocalist is, there is a 99.9% chance they aren't as good as Allen.

I haven't heard the Silent Assassins album yet, but judging by this and Russell's Adrenaline Mob, we'd all just be better off with another SX album with them all working together.

Back in January, Mike LePond said in an interview that there would be a new Symphony X album in early 2019.

I strongly encourage you to check them out. It's much more on the power metal side than the SX projects.

It's not bad but it should really be played by Symphony X. I don't understand how the material warrants a solo release, or if it's just a consequence of larger symptoms.

Though I agree it would be better with Allen singing, I actually like this one better than anything off Underworld.

Perhaps the single is the most Symphony X-ish song and the rest of it deviates from that template more. We'll know soon enough.

Yeah, this is just going to be a Symphony X album with somebody else singing, innit

I hope this isn't a rehearsal for Russell leaving SymX and this guy replacing him. I've seen stranger things happen.

That song was pretty good, but 'Fucking Robots' is a godawful song name. Seriously, what the hell?

According to an interview on YouTube, Romeo said "Fucking Robots" is an instrumental that fuses dubstep with his guitar work. Apparently it sounds like, well, robots fucking. Guess we'll see.

What Lord_Jotun said. Dubstep is still a thing? Why?

Yeah, no kidding, that description really doesn't have me excited for much of this anymore. Glad he kept THAT out of SX the last several albums.

Wow! The vocals are horrible. Not in exception but the lyrics and vocal melodies are so typical and cliché.

And also, why make a solo album if its in the same vein as S-X anyway?

At this point, I'm dying to hear the supposed dubstep track. Knowing how these premieres have been going, it's probably just a Symphony X song with a vaguely industrial beat.

I don't understand why people are saying this singer is bad. He's not as intense or powerful as Russ, despite his superficial resemblance of him, but I don't see how that makes him bad. He's fine - not great, not terrible, but certainly decent. I've enjoyed both songs released from this so far, although I'm not convinced that they needed their own Michael Romeo solo album. As long as this doesn't interfere with the work on Symphony X's new one, though, I'm ok with it.

He's definitely not bad, but when you hear those Symphony X-esque riffs and it is not Russell Allen singing over them, it will probably be at least somewhat of a disappointment regardless of who the vocalist is.
