Orphaned Land - Ornaments of Gold

They're playing in Providence in two weeks and I'm so hyped. Been listening to them since high school.

Forgotten Tomb - We Owe You Nothing

I wonder if they called the album that because they knew everyone who bought it would want their money back. Blech.

Indeed, they somehow managed to do even worse than the predecessor

Bathory - Foreverdark Woods

Warm weather = Bathory, for some reason :)

I really don't understand what made that lead singer of Converge, who has the official curator for the Roadburn festival, decide to invite Forgotten Tomb to the festival. So many great bands that you could invite and you decide to invite FT. I don't get it. I used to like Love's Burial Ground a lot (also the albums that came before it), but they lost me after everything that came after that.

Abigor - Christ's Descent Into Hell

Höllenzwang (Chronicles of Perdition) is a good album, really liking the "stripped down" approach they took on this one, but goddamn does the woman on this song make me laugh. She's so wonderfully over the top. Her laugh at 2:15~ is fucking hilarious.

What the fuck even happened with this band? Their early material was really fucking good.

Woods of Ypres - Career Suicide (Is Not Real Suicide)

Digging this album a lot. It has good diversity and really nice melodies.

Blut aus Nord - Our Blessed Frozen Cells

Oh dear. The ending of this song is one of the best I have ever heard in music. Just a perfect fusion of slow laid-back riffing and lead melodies with industrial electronic music. I feel like I'm walking in a dark hallway into some dark place.

Fleurety - Fragmenter Av En Fortid

mid 90s Norwegian experimental black metal with prominent bass, female vocals, soft sections, blast beats and shrieks. Stunning stuff I never get sick of

Procer Veneficus - Cytherean Wine (Blood from the Sun)

Completely transportative psych-black metal. I'd go so far as to call the whole Duskworlds album absolutely perfect.

that seven inch is so great, I hope they still play that and Divine Apprehension live.

The Beach Boys - "Surfer's Rule"

Rediscovered my love for this band HARD. One of the most brilliant rock bands IMO, everything they did in the 60s from their early surf shit to their psych rock phase is untouchable. I'd even take them over the Beatles most days.

Devastation - Legacy of Faith

I know a lot of people worship Idolatry, but I've had it for years and never gotten too into it. If the vocals were stronger, it would probably be much better. I'm still gonna spin it a few times and see if I can enjoy it more because the riffs and the speed are there.

Zia Mohiuddin Dagar - Raga Yaman.

When I need a break from metal (it's rare but it does happen), I usually go to Hindustani classical music or qawwali. All drone fans should check out Zia Mohiuddin Dagar, and also probably Pran Nath.
