While Desideratum isn't their most rock solid effort, and honestly the same can be said about every album after In the Constellation of the Black Widow, this one tics all the right boxes, while still following the traditional AN song structure. Impressive.

They never clicked to me.

Аркона - Rebionok bez imeni

HOLY. SHIT.

This is awesome. Never listened to Аркона before, but the greatness of Khram genuinely surprised me.

Blind Guardian - Nightfall in the Middle Earth (full)

How times change. i spent years and years worshiping the early BG records, but lately i feel more drawn to the bombast and mind boggling complexity of Imaginations and Nightfall

Classic US steel! Everyone knows Master Control but their two previous albums are equally as awesome.

Understandable. Ever try their debut album? It's pretty unlike the rest of their catalog.

AN's debut is a meatgrinder! I have mixed feeling for some of their later works but that one truly meets the hype and nails the atmosphere

Amorphis - The Castaway

Their metamorphosis of sound still baffles me, this album is truly the product of inspiration and imagination :)

Prong - "Prove You Wrong"

Prong is criminally underrated and should be more popular than they really are nowadays. Along with Pantera, Sepultura, White Zombie and Danzig, they kept metal relevant in the early to mid '90s despite the popularity of grunge and alternative rock.

A Perfect Circle - Disillusioned

It took some time, but this grew on me. Cool track.

I think they did well in almost every style that they've tried. Somewhere Far Beyond is still my favorite of them though.

NP: Root - Aposiopesis

This is just incredible stuff. Passionate and authentic sounding; you could tell these guys were a 100% into what they did and I love the unique, expressive vocals and monumental riffs. :metal:

I'm listening to Laurie Anderson's project with Kronos Quartet. Really beautiful stuff, although it probably could have benefited from the tracks being longer / less of them. I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but there are 30 songs, and many of them are under 2 minutes long. Just as they start to get somewhere, they are done.

Solstice - White Horse Hill

Pretty fucking good... pretty much what I expected, but damn are these riffs colossal and heavy.

Judas Priest - Bloodstone

Overall I feel that between British Steel and Screaming For Vengeance... I feel that Vengeance is the better of their two most popular albums. The album has more variety and energy to it and even though it is more commercial than Steel, I feel that it is much less generic. Not on the level as Sad Wings Of Destiny, Stained Class, Defenders Of The Faith or Painkiller but still very high quality commercial Heavy Metal.

Vader - "Field of Heads"

Fast and thrashy. That's been the hallmark of Vader all through the years. This is the perfect description for this track as well.

Megadeth - "Train of Consequences"

One of Megadeth's more accessible tracks. I remember seeing them play this on Letterman back in the day.

Type O Negative - "Day Tripper / If I Needed Someone / I Want You (She's So Heavy)"

This is one of their best standalone songs, but that entire album (Above the Weeping World) is probably their best overall.

NP: Hate Forest - The Gates

Been going through all this band's demo re-releases to see which of them is worth picking up. This is not one of them.

Kamelot-Sacrimony

Alissa White ruined this song, I should probably put this in my "songs ruined by one part" thread because she is abominable.

Blue Oyster Cult's first two albums are essential proto metal! Their best song, "Seven Screaming Diz-Busters" is next!

Rumpelstiltskin Grinder - "The Day Merman Met Todd "the Harpoon" Wilson"

Whatever happened to this band. Totally dug the 2 albums they released under Relapse. But after that they went out of my radar.
