Leave the discussion for the religious themes elsewhere, you can either deal with it, tune out or not tolerate it. Your choice. Let's keep this thread about the chorus on the new track. Jesus.

Failing that mindfuck, looking forward to it. Sweet has been on a roll (save for the recent Sweet & Lynch) and I am looking forward to this. I just hope we get more Stryper sounding choruses on the rest of the material. Did LOL at the comment by Frontiers on the YT link though.

After reading the wording of this post, I fully expected the chorus to be him chanting "Jesus". It ended up being even more hilarious that I expected.

Epic instrumental overture, gripping verses, surprising chorus and some decent growls to finish. Stryper is more diversified and energizing in one single song than other groups on entire albums. I like it and I will probably pick up the album as well.

They have a lot of good songs in their catalogue but this is not one of them. Awful.

Will metal bands ever get tired of ripping off children of the grave? The chorus was fun to listen to but nothing to be crazy about. Song was awful in general. And I don't get why someone would get into a religious discussion with this band, everybody knows their "christian" lyrics are just a gimmick.

Hardly. Unlike many "satanic" shock metal bands, Stryper means what they say.

They aren't doing a particularly good job, then.

I don't really think that's any better...

I liked a couple songs off the previous album, actually, but this sounds atrocious. As blackmantram said, it's basically a Children of the Grave rip off with a really, really bad chorus. It's just half-assed and shitty all around.

Wow, that is one of the most forced choruses I've heard in recent memory.

I didn't have any hopes, but damn, Michael Sweet's voice has gotten better after all these years! How often does that happen? I think he was a great singer back in the day too.

Have you got the first Sweet and Lynch album? Some ripping tunes on that.

That chorus was totally death metal. Reminded me of Deicide's slave to the cross

I liked a few songs off the last album (Fallen in particular is great), but I've never found Stryper to be too consistent and I couldn't even make it to the end of this song.

They had some moments since 2005. Probably 13 of my 15 favorite Stryper songs are all post-2005.

This songs feel forced, as others have said. Sort of like "The Reign" back in 1988.

I wonder what Michael Sweet thinks though.. We all know Stryper is more or less his solo band, with Robert Sweet being optional, and the bassist saga never-ending. Then he crafts all these solo albums and Sweet/Lynch albums on the side. Who has time to keep up with all this ? I don't.

If he kept all his ideas for Stryper, the albums would probably have less filler on them.

This band has sucked since the late-80s. Unsurprisingly this is just as bad, if not worse, than Reborn was.

Wow, that was absolutely horrible. Had actually never listened to Stryper before either. It sounds like was produced in some random bloke's bedroom as well.

Wait, I just checked, so Stryper is on the archives? How the mighty have fallen.

Just like every other metal band, their 80s stuff was far superior to their modern-day output.

putrenista: They have been on the archives for a while. "Yellow and Black Attack" and "Soldiers Under Command" are without a doubt metal.

The band's last album Fallen is also definitely metal and at least as good as the group's outputs from the eighties. Go listen to this album if you haven't listened to it yet.
