Hey everyone. Been looking into getting an electric drum kit for my black metal project for a while now and now that I have a job again, I can feasibly grab one. The only problem is I really don't know what to look for. All I need is something with a kick, snare and hi-hat for £300 or under I can use for bedroom recordings. Any advice on what I should get would be welcomed.

In that price range, you should consider a used kit. You're not going to find one with fewer drums for cheaper, they're more or less standard setups. There won't be a lot of options, and these are fairly similar, but you should be able to find an Alesis DM5 or Simmons SD500, maybe a Simmons SD1000 or Roland HD1 or TD3/4.

You should get a ddrum hybrid kit haha. I've played on cheaper electric kits and it's usually terrible for anything remotely fast, but they're really fun to hook up to a PA and shake the entire house!! I know for a God-given fact that acoustic electric hybrid kits are good. I found one on American sweetwater for 600$, that's similar enough to your range, get it!

Get the best Roland kit you can afford. Most other electric kits are junk. The Rolands feel as good as any electric kit will, sound pretty good, and have MIDI if you want to use other sounds.

Junk? just for Black Metal projects.

If you want an electric drum kit that is genuinely good you'll want to fork out much more than that... about 3 or 4 times as much, actually...
