What do you listen to put you into the ambiance of Halloween? It can be in any genre of music.

I like the album ''Electric Doom Synthesis'' by Beherit. It has a eery, creepy atmosphere.

The song Halloween from Helloween.

I was going to listen to Acid Witch at work, but forgot to put it on my SD card! Bummer. They apparently have a new album out.

Nox Arcana and Midnight Syndicate have the perfect Halloween atmosphere.

I would add Mortician into the discussion due to their insane amount of samples from horror films. When the samples they use in their songs show up in the film, I can usually recite that part of the movie line by line.

I always go nuts with Halloween music, mostly metal - been on a lot of Seasons of the Wolf, Year of the Goat, Mercyful Fate, Deceased, Root and Cradle of Filth this year.

*shameless plug*

Well hey, I literally made an EP of horror film score covers, so at least it is extremely appropriate.

Check out Tones of Terror: Volume I, 6 tracks of some of your favorite classic horror films re-imagined by yours truly.

I usually listen to AFI's All Hallow's E.P. and The Black Dahlia Murder's Ritual - the first song on that album is about Halloween, and the rest of the album is great for Halloween atmosphere as well. I will probably also listen to some King Diamond after that as well (more than likely The Eye).

I don't celebrate halloween. But no-one have mentioned October 31? Deceased are mentioned in the thread, and October 31 is King Fowley's other project, also with a clear horror theme.

The soundtrack to Hellraiser 2 - Hellbound by Christopher Young should blow most other Halloween-esque music out of the water!

Mortician's Redrum currently. I remember the goose bumbs after listening to that song the first time. I was like 14 and couldn't make it to the end xD

I like October 31 a lot, but they lack the horror theme to make them a "halloween band".

I second whoever mentioned Root, especially early stuff. That door creaking open to start "Pisen Pro Satana" :o Welcome to the haunted house!

I go with mostly gimmick-y stuff, instead of the most extreme/intense stuff.

Ghost, Cradle Of Filth, King Diamond, Type O Negative. Not that the mentioned bands aren't good, just feels right.

Lately, I've been putting Slayer's "At Dawn They Sleep" on repeat. Apart from being one of my favorite Slayer songs and one that happens to be about vampires, it's one of Slayer's most eerie sounding songs in their entire career - and that's something considering it appears on their darkest sounding album.

You already know that I think of Lustmord on a daily basis...

Seconded on Acid Witch, forced the wife to listen to "Stoned" last night, and followed up up (to a much chillier reception) with Evoken's "Embrace the Emptiness."

Ghoul (US) - its up beat, fast, groovy. The lyrics are morbid and funny enough to fit the spirit.

OK then, I'll add Kerovnian's second album to your suggestion, what do you think about that?

Only one band has truly captured the spoopy tone of Halloween as it is celebrated in this day and age, and that band is Gloomy Grim.
