Heh, Running Wild, my first album of theirs was the certifiably awesome Death or Glory, and everything afterwards just felt somewhat weaker, which is probably why they are not my favorite. Need to dig in more.

NP:
Rush - Clockwork Angels
Tremendous, tremendous album. "The Anarchist" must be up there in my top 10 favorite Rush songs ever, and that is saying something.

Muse - Exo-politics

This is still one of my favorite albums. Everything about this is just done perfectly - brilliant riff-craft and charismatic vocals and futuristic keys.

Satyricon - Deep Calleth Upon Deep.

My first time hearing it. The groove is a little awkward, I think.

Nothing new. :nono:

(19940) Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger and (1995) Darkthrone - Panzerfaust on my way back from work.

I don't think those are on same level as the 2 previous ones.

Pagan Altar - The Room of Shadows

I'm finally taking the time to listen to this in full. Excellent so far, but that is to be expected.

Carach Angren - Departure Towards A Nautical Curse

Probably my favourite track from this album. A nice concept for an album. They pulled it off wonderfully.

Ministry - Man Should Surrender (Live, 1990)

Yes, finally, Ministry release a fuller version of their infamous 1990 tour album (In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up) and hearing them run through a gamut of Pailhead & Lard songs is manna to me.

Same here. I was jamming to "Icepick Lobotomy" earlier.

Razor- "Grindstone". One of those "forgotten" tracks of Razor for me. Still hardly the best song on the album, but more fun than I remembered.

Throwing this record on now. I remember liking it too but haven't heard it in ages. Do most fans consider this better than the '13' record? I always preferred Ozzy era but this record changed it for me...

Megadeth - Rust in Peace

Like visiting an old friend, only to find that they're just as awesome as you remember.

This rules, needless to say.

Bolt Thrower - Overlord

Trudging along like a musical equivalent of a tank, Bolt Thrower has not strayed far from this mid-tempo style. They've made a career out of it and they are the true example that you don't need to play fast to be heavy.

Artificial Brain - Vacant Explorer

Welp, sorry Shaarimoth, it seems that there is a better DM album this year after all. Infrared Horizon is a prime example of a slow-burner album for me, but when it hits, it hits damn hard, all of the right notes of this type of DM. This shit pretty much has it all, and is maybe best represented by this absolutely amazing song.

I'll have to re-listen to "13" soon to have a fresh comparison, but I forgot just how bad ass the track "Bible Black" is.

Alice in Chains - Alice in Chains
Soundgarden - Superunknown

Grunge classics of the highest order from that movement's two best bands.

I use to say that listening to Bolt Thrower on headphones on the streets is like walking around with a flamethrower.

Epta Astera - Saligia

This is one of those bands that I find myself listening to a ton and never getting tired of. Their follow-up EP is even better.

Fucking hell that little stop at 1:26 is so catchy, even moreso than that little disco stop. Great stuff like always from Amorphis.

Sunset in the 12th House - Arctic Cascades

The whole album is just sublime. Funny thing is that I enjoy this project more than anything Hupogrammos and Sol Faur have done with Negura and Dordeduh.

Pantera - Slaughtered

Definitely Pantera's heavies moment. This song has the band playing in death metal-levels of intensity and ferocity.

Deceased - Frozen Screams

The "it all began.." riff gets me everytime, pure adrenaline

Pagan Altar - The Ripper

Probably the oddest and most intriguing song on their new album. Fairly subdued for this band, and much more vocal-driven than usual - they've never really done anything like it. It's an opaque, odd musical drama, backed up by riffs that would fit on a classic rock album. And I love it.

Grave Digger - The Clans Will Rise Again

Only heard The Last Supper from their later albums before, and liked it. Let's see how this goes. Always liked their singer, has his own thing going on, not that traditional power metal voice.

Saw them on their final tour in Ohio, and when they played this one (I believe it was third, after Hellbound and A New Level), I thought the place was coming down.

Very cool, slow stonery rock. Somewhere between Alice In Chains and Torche.

Blaze of Sorrow - Eterno Tramonto. Decent slow dark/black metal in vein of Empyrium and Agalloch. Good companion for autumnal twilight.

Talsur - Slough of Despond

This is probably my cool funeral doom find of the year. I seem to find out about some new funeral doom band that actually does what it does right once a year and have their album break my top 10. Maybe this could be it.
