Cannibal Corpse have just officially announced a new fall tour with Power Trip and Gatecreeper. In making the announcement, the press release also declared the band have a “as-yet-untitled full-length, due out this fall.” So a new album and a new tour from Cannibal Corpse? How did we ever get this lucky.

Cannibal Corpse are nothing if not consistent in their mission to delivery pulverizing death metal, so we look forward to hearing what they have in store. They are taking out two excellent, very hyped, new bands in Power Trip and Gatecreeper. This is a stacked billed from top to bottom.

Caught it in Pensacola. Gatecreeper plays four or five songs from their debut album and the two from their new EP. They were pretty damn good. Power Trip plays most of Nightmare Logic and one or two off Manifest Decimation. They absolutely killed it. Cannibal plays three or four off Red Before Black, but three of them were among the roughly half of the album I thought was crap so make of that what you will. I don't remember all the songs they played but Scourge of Iron, Kill or Become, I Cum Blood, Stripped, Raped, and Strangled, and Hammer Smashed Face were among those played. A solid night but Cannibal was definitely the lowest energy set.

I’ll be at the Nov. 26th gig at the Agora in Cleveland.

I’m really liking the new Gatecreeper EP. It fulfills the direction I was hoping the debut album would take (not that it’s bad, but “Carved into Stone” set me up for unmet expectations,) and to know they’re playing both songs live is a welcome sign they’re confident in this direction going forward. Power Trip is a tour de force. They won over a lot of new fans in the area when they played at Now That’s Class and The Foundry previously and “Nightmare Logic” is my thrash album of the year, so they’ll be a lot of fun to see on a bigger stage.

Had a really good time at this in Detroit the other night.

Power Trip were the highlight for me. I was pretty surprised with how packed the venue was. By the time Cannibal Corpse came on there was no elbow room anywhere.
