Read from a finnish magazine called Inferno, that Karl Willets is forming a new death/grind band called Memoriam.
Band members include Frank Healy (Benediction), Andy Whale (ex-Bolt Thrower), and Scott Fairfax (ex-Cerebral Fix)
Personally, I'm excited because Bolt Thrower is one of my favourite bands ever and they have been quiet sometime.

Here's the link if someone's interested (and knows finnish :D)

interesting - i've always liked karl's vocals a lot, and don't really listen to honour, valour, pride because of ingram (not that he's bad either)

One of my favorite metal vocalists of all time. Hope the music is good enough to withstand the inevitable Bolt Thrower comparisons that it will be subjected to.

Good good news! Karl Willets is like a God to me, so all it does is of interest to me.

And the reunion with mighty early Bolt Thrower drummer Andy Whale...

some updates-translate

"It's been a while since Bolt Thrower released their last album and it looks like the band won't record anything in the near future. After all, their drummer sadly died last year. But, here's some good news to whet the appetite of Bolt Thrower fanatics! Their legendary vocalist Karl Willetts decided to start his own death/grind band called Memoriam. Other members included in this project are Frank Healy (Benediction), Andy Whale (ex-Bolt Thrower) and Scott Fairfax (ex-Cerebral Fix).

The band is now in the process of rehearsing their first songs, so it'll take some time for them to record their debut, but at least now we know something's happening. In the meantime, check their official Facebook page here and stay tuned for more news about this project soon."

Sounds great! I love both Benediction and Bolt Thrower. But I still hope I'll see Bolt Thrower live some time.

Sounds like we'll be getting new music from Karl Willets' Memoriam and Dave Ingram's Hail of Bullets around the same time!

Sounds promising. I am intrigued by "grind" and Andy Whale being part of the formula.

Interesting that Andy Whale just popped out of nowhere to do this... Last time he was in a band, was in Bolt Thrower somewhere in the mid 90s......
Maybe it's a warm-up to becoming part of Bolt Thrower once again??? I'm not the only one thinking this, right? :)

On one hand, I always thought Karl was a mediocre vocalist and always the least interesting part of Bolt Thrower.

On the other hand, it's super cool to be hearing him again so I'm excited for this for sure.

Excited about this. Hoping it'll sound like a continuation of Bolt Thrower above all else.

if anything, it will probably be a continuation of the earlier, more grinding era of bolt thrower.

Since we're probably never getting another Bolt Thrower album, I guess this is the next best thing. Excited, to say the least.

well, talking about that, I just got this ebay message after winning a bid on a BT shirt;

Hi there,

Congratulations on winning the shirt!

All proceeds from the sale will help pay for the recovery of lost date containing kiddies last recorded drum tracks!

Regards

Uh, are they going to do what I think they're going to do ???

They put up a taste of their music on their facebook -

https://www.facebook.com/Memoriam2016/v ... =2&theater

A little reminiscent of Bolt Thrower when that riff starts halfway in. Looks like Karl is going to continue with war-themed lyrics too. But I find it weird they're planning on making shirts and merch already when they haven't even released a full song yet. Jumping the gun a bit.

I'm going to have to check out Sacrilege now though since I've never heard of them before.

Sounds fantastic. Kinda modern-sounding but great nonetheless. That riff that appears, like, three seconds before the end is crushing

Sacrilege is essential for any bolt thrower fan. Really like em myself and are an obvious big possibly biggest influence on their sound.

I'm listening to Behind the Realms of Madness on Youtube right now and while the vocals aren't my style, I love the music and it's probably the closest thing I've ever heard to Bolt Thrower. Holy fuck! Or more like HOLY FUCK!!!!!!!!!

BTW there is a vinyl of Behind the Realms of Madness going for $0.99 on ebay right now if anyone is interested. Came across it looking to buy myself the cd, not affiliated with the seller, etc etc.

I like the sound of that sample. I'm not likely to soon tire of BT/HoB/Asphyx style battly DM.

I don't hear any Asphyx/HOB influence here, just Bolt Thrower.

In any case, hype cubed!

Only 2 songs? Eh, call me when there's a full album ready to roll. Otherwise this just sounds like an excuse to medley Bolt Thrower and Benediction songs. Like when members of Misfits, Ramones and Black Flag merged for greatest hits sets back in the day as "The Misfits".

I'll most likely have to take a stab at this 7" and pick it up. Looks like this could be really promising.

according to last month's issue of Rock Tribune where they interview Karl Willets (and that's a rarity!), they seem to already have 5 songs with a title; they are planning to release an album consisting of 10 songs, they plan to enter the studio in May/June; And an interesting bit of info too: Memoriam will not only play their own songs live, but also Bolt Thrower/Benediction and Sacrilege songs...

known songtitles;
- Memoriam
- War Rages On
- Surrounded (By Death)
- Drone-Strike
- Resistance

Now you see what metal magazines can be useful for, hehe :p

also; according to Willets Bolt Thrower's status is 'on hold' until the mourning process for their drummer Kiddie is over...

from what i read in the interview; Karl Willets mentioned that when he returned back to the Bolt Thrower fold around mid 2000's he apparently felt guilty that he managed to rejoin the band while Andy Whale couldn't because his place was already taken by Kearns for quite some years. That's why he and the others decided to do this collaboration. A gathering of old friends.

Sounds okay, nothing earth-shattering. Karl's vocals don't sound quite as sharp as on the last Bolt Thrower release, but I guess it's understandable since it was over 10 years ago. Or maybe he's doing something a little different since it's a different band.

Agree with I Am The Law. Decent but not earth shattering stuff. I wonder if it's all going to be this kind of mid-paced stuff or if they'll ramp up the speed on other songs.
