Halberd is an international project of MA superstars composed of two Canadians, one Colombian and one Chinese who lives in England. The project was initiated by Antoine Richard (our very own Metantoine) as a creative outlook for his lyrics and vision. He rapidly asked some of his musicians friends for help and that's how Charles Wong ( juicebitch of Aum, Aortic Regurgitation) and Andrés Felipe Murillo ( RageW of Prajna) joined the project. Alexandre Ferland (Necroticism174), a local friend from Montréal joined as the vocalist soon after. Halberd play beanie worship exclusively. Paying tribute to Tom G. Warrior, war, and death in general.

Our debut album "Remnants of Crumbling Empires" is scheduled to be released soon. We're currently looking for a label.

Bump to say we've received some interesting interest and also to say the full album should be on the bandcamp for all to hear soon. Halberd train keeps on rolling.

I've listened to it three times, and it's definitely one of the best albums this year. I don't love every moment, but the best parts are incredible!

Some very positive reviews:

From doom-metal.com:

Quote:
Halberd’s ‘Remnants Of Crumbling Empires’ is a gloriously dark and atmospheric album. At times, it feels like a nuclear missile that’s out of control, spiralling through the air on an unpredictable voyage of brutal devastation. At others, it’s a slow and sorrowful journey of epic proportions. And from start to finish, it is interesting, original and enjoyable.

From Skull Fracturing:
Quote:
Death/doom is not a favourite style of mine, but Halberd shows that, when done properly, it is quite effective. At the end of the day, the quality of riffs is what is important, and Halberd delivers that time and again on this record.

From Metal made in Canada (TheBlackHull):
Quote:
In conclusion, maybe because of their critical mind and their vast musical knowledge, members of Halberd put in common the best of their influences to create an album better than the average. I would even go as far as to say that through this album the band is showcasing how a masterpiece is done.

From The Metal Observer (TheStormIRide):
Quote:
It took me quite a few listens to fully wrap my head around Halberd's debut album. There's a lot going on and each subsequent listen has given me further insight into the hauntingly crushing atmospheres. Serene guitar solos float in and leave without a trace; atmospheric keys build a sense of epic urgency before giving way to cavernous rumblings; crushing riffs meld into short trem bursts. I could go on and on and on and on about the intricacies and interplay and I still really wouldn't be doing this album justice. This is crushing and haunting doom/death with tons of atmosphere and superb songwriting.
