Erasmus - into oceans, the ever One

Such atmosphere. This band is one of the best US black metal bands I've ever heard.

Pessimist - Blood For The Gods

I kept spotting this dusty CD at my local record shop sitting behind a bunch of new copies of Pestilence's shitty Doctrine. I kept writing Pessimist off as bargin bin material. I never really followed this band before, damn was I wrong. Then one day I listened to Tunnel Rats from this album and holy shit!!! B-line to record store, got the CD home, cleaned it all up, looked perfect and in the stereo it goes.

This is now one of my favorite albums. The material on this release comes off as simply early Suffocation worship on the first song, but then the variation and excellent song writing kick in. The song Tunnel Rats, Unborn (Father), Unspeakable Terror and Wretched of the Earth are amazing.

Rainbow - Stargazer

What can you really say about this? Epic on all levels. Such a powerful song.

I had previously only listened to their latest album, Voice of Steel, but this material is fantastic. I can see why Caladan Brood would be influenced by this material.

I listened to this while driving home from my holidays this sunday (http://viviendoapesardelacrisis.blogspot.com.es/2014/08/vacaciones-de-buceo-en-la-costa-azul-de.html).
I STILL love the guitars!

The Newborn from (2011) Continuo Renacer - The Great Escape.
I LOVE those guys!

Haken - Pareidolia

Album as a whole is only about a 7/10, but I firmly believe this is one of the best prog metal songs ever written. Absolutely perfect and mesmerizing.

27 - Holding on for Brighter Days album

I've had a terrible headache all day so methinks that I will keep my music on the softer side for the evening.

Nevermore - The Fault of the Flesh

One of the highlights from the (rather uneven, IMO) second half of Dreaming Neon Black.

Deathspell Omega - Solafide I

Si Monumentum Requires showcases a more elegant (yet still totally unsettling, esoteric, and grim) side of Deathspell Omega, seemingly.

Primordial - Gallows Hymn

Sweeping, heavy and epic music with a real fire and rage behind it. Very good.

Hyades - Skate Addiction

I forgot how great this band was. They were really definitely ahead of the curve in terms of Italian thrash. It seems like bands are popping out thrash from Italy faster than ever, but Hyades is probably the reason so many of them are doing so right now.

Uncanny - Splenium for Nyktophobia

Feeling about this like I feel about most Swedish DM I come across: fine, digestible, decently entertaining, but doesn't exactly grab me in any specific way.

Necrophobic - Darkside: It's really cool to see an interesting twist on the Sunlight sound in the form of blackened old school Swedeath.

Mefisto - The Puzzle: Because Mike Åkerfeldt cited it as being his favorite album from the Swedish scene.

I agree.

I REALLY like their old and new work but I must listen to those albums in the middle.

Alchemist - Tide In Mind Out

Not as engulfing as Spiritech, but a cool, sophisticated album of great guitar playing, punishing vocal work and intelligent lyrics. Really interesting music.

YES! ABOUT FUCKING TIME!

From what I can make out, it sounds like they have deviated very little from what we heard in Outer Isolation. DiSanto's vocals are still ridiculous in the best way possible. YES!

Desultor - Denied

God DAMNIT this kicks ass!!!! Like a much heavier, death metal-y Control Denied? Where are more bands like this in the midst of lame and weak power metal gimmicks!?

Pentagram - The World Will Love Again

One of the most ear-catching tunes on Be Forewarned...great, massive grooves and an infectious vocal hook. These early doom bands were at their best when they wrote heavy mid-tempo crushers with catchy, rhythmic vocal lines - that was what Ozzy sounded best doing and that's what these other vocalists do best too.

Yea, I love Be Forewarned. "Petrified" is a massive riff-storm and my most favourite tune, "Wolf's Blood" is another scorcher. Basically every song is solid.

NP: Ween - Pork Roll Egg and Cheese

True successors of Zappa and Captain Beefheart.

Mortuus - Grape Of The Vine

New album!! I really liked the De contemplanda Morte; De Reverencie laboribus ac Adorationis full length from 2007, as it was a morbid grower, redolent with slower, writhing, tortured tempos dripping a suffocating atmosphere. This formula doesn't seem to have changed with this track, and I'm not complaining. Hopefully more tracks become available to sample soon.

Blood Thirsty - Slaughtering Sin

Mixing symphonics with brutal death metal sounds ineffective in theory, but this is actually amazing.

Cyphosis - "Time is an Enemy" from To North and Under

This album is some fantastic melodic death/thrash and it is crying shame no one has reviewed it on the Archives yet. If I was a little more knowledgeable and better with words I would give it a shot.

I wrote this album off at first, but it's growing on me. Very drudging and atmospheric.

Alchemist - Older than the Ancients

Pretty cool mellow prog rock/metal. Not the jarring Neurosis on acid of Spiritech or Organasm but I dig it...tight, melodic music.

The new album has some energy to it and some good sounds. That's all I can say about it now. It hasn't blown me away but it isn't awful either.
